***(Update at 4:45 p.m.) Sheriff’s deputies have suspended a search in eastern Wilson County on F.M. 539 near the Polley Mansion, but encourage members of the public to report sightings of a suspect, who was the target of an intensive search Friday morning.

The suspect had not been located as of 4:20 p.m. Friday. Chief Deputy Clint Garza said the investigation continues. Sheriff’s deputies are looking for Robert Atkins III, 30 years old. A white male, 5′ 11″, with a slender build, he was dressed all in black when last seen, and no longer had the jacket or backpack. He is balding and heavily tattooed. His pants are ripped and he may be scratched from traveling through fences and brush.

If you see him or know his whereabouts, or have other information on this incident, call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 830-393-2535, or 911 if it is an emergency.


***(Update as of 1:22 p.m.) Chief Deputy Clint Garza said the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office has called off the search for a potentially armed suspect on F.M. 539 in eastern Wilson County.

Law-enforcement personnel — which included members of the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office utilizing  a drone — were unable to locate the individual. Units remain in the area, Garza said.

He reminds area residents to remain alert for the white male, dressed all in black, who may be armed with a gun. Call 911 if you see something, Garza urged, and cautioned again: Do not approach the person, who may be armed.


***(Original post 4/16/2021 at 11:51 a.m.) Wilson County Sheriff’s Office advises members of the public in the area of F.M. 539 and C.R. 336 to be on the lookout for a suspect who is possibly armed with a gun. This is near the Polley Mansion.

The white male is dressed in all black. His pants may be ripped, dirty, and worn.

The individual ran from deputies earlier today and then reappeared, according to Chief Deputy Clint Garza.

“Use caution and do not approach” the man if you see him, Garza urges. If you see him, call 911 immediately.
