Burn ban in effect

Wilson County Commissioners have ordered a BURN BAN effective June 6, 2018 and continues for 90 days.

In accordance with Local Government Code 352.081(h), a violation of this Order is a Class C Misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00.

All outdoor burning is prohibited with the exception of:

1) Firefighter Training
2) Public Utility, Natural Gas or Pipeline Operations
3) Planting or harvesting agricultural crops
4) Burns that are conducted by prescribed burn manager and authorized by Wilson County Health and Public Safety.

Fires for cooking in an enclosed container are allowed.

For agricultural burn permits call 830-393-8503.

Wilson County continues under a 90-day burn ban. No outside burning — of brush piles, for agricultural purposes, etc. — is permitted. Burning trash is allowed only in screened receptacles and must be monitored.

A partial ban on fireworks also is in place. Skyrockets and other airborne fireworks are not allowed, as we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July.

For information on the burn ban or fireworks, contact the Wilson County Health & Public Safety Office at 830-393-8503.
