Burn Ban Status

The Wilson County Commissioners voted to enact the burn ban, effective immediately, at their Dec. 11, 2017 meeting.


Wilson County has ordered a BURN BAN effective December 11, 2017 and continues for 90 days.

In accordance with Local Government Code 352.081(h), a violation of this Order is a Class C Misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00.

All outdoor burning is prohibited with the exception of:

1) Firefighter Training
2) Public Utility, Natural Gas or Pipeline Operations
3) Planting or harvesting agricultural crops***
4) Burns that are conducted by prescribed burn manager and authorized by Wilson County Health and Public Safety.

Fires for cooking in an enclosed container are allowed.

***Agricultural burns and natural debris accumulated for the purpose of land clearing on more than ten (10) acres for livestock grazing or the planting of crops must be permitted through the Wilson County Health and Public Safety Office.
