Deadline nears to file for elective offices

Texas Primary Election Day is still three months away, but candidates for public office in the state must file no later than Monday, Dec. 11, by 6 p.m.

Offices in Wilson County up for election include:

•County judge

•District clerk

•County clerk

•County treasurer

•County commissioner, precincts 2 and 4

•Justices of the peace, precincts 1, 2, 3, and 4.

To qualify for these offices, candidates must be:

•U.S. citizens

•Texas residents for at least 12 months

•Residents of the area served by the office they seek for at least six months

•Registered to vote in the area served by the office they seek

•At least 18 years old.

Chairmen of the Republican and Democratic parties in Wilson County also will be up for election.

Applications to file for election must be delivered to the elections office in Wilson County Courthouse Annex III at 1103 Fourth St. in Floresville.
