An 18-wheel tank truck partially blocked the intersection of U.S. 181 and C Street in Floresville for more than an hour Tuesday morning before being towed away.

Floresville police on the scene said it appeared the driver of the tanker applied his brakes too slowly to avoid hitting the back of a pickup truck at the intersection.

“No one was hurt,” Officer Kevin Swinehart said. “The airbags didn’t even deploy.”

The driver of the smaller vehicle was able to drive away, but the driver of the larger vehicle found its front fender had bent into a front tire.

A large tow truck was summoned to move the tanker, and the intersection was cleared by 11:40 a.m.
