Multiple law agencies capture wanted felon

By WCN Staff

A 32-year-old Floresville man wanted on several felony warrants was arrested April 13, after he told people he wouldn’t be taken in without a fight.

“We got him without incident,” Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said. “Though he ran. He always does.”

The U.S. Marshals Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Patrol were called upon to assist the sheriff’s office in the apprehension.

A DPS trooper made the arrest near C.R. 314, charging Daniel Robert Ernst with evading arrest or detention, in addition to his failure to appear in court for other charges:

•Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

•Possession of a controlled substance

•Evading arrest or detention with a vehicle

•Three charges of aggravated assault against a public servant.

The large law-enforcement presence Friday evening near Sutherland Springs had many area residents speculating about the reason for a “SWAT” team in the county.
