Early voting begins for party runoffs

Early voting is underway this week for the May 22 Republican and Democratic primary runoff elections.

      On Monday, May 14 — the first day of early voting — Wilson County voters cast 11 ballots in the Republican election and 6 ballots in the Democratic election, for a total of 17.

      Karnes County voters cast 34 ballots in the Republican election and four in the Democratic election, for a total of 38.

      In Wilson County, Republicans are making a choice for county Pct. 3 justice of the peace, and Democrats are voting on their preference for governor.

      In Karnes County, Republicans are choosing their nominee for county judge, and Democrats are making their pick for county Pct. 4 commissioner.

      Early voting continues through May 18 at the two counties’ respective county elections offices.
