Hons sets off on travels as Youth Tour delegate

Hollie Hons Hollie Hons Karnes Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce Hollie Hons as its 2018 Government-in-Action Youth Tour delegate. The Government-in-Action Youth Tour is a 10-day, all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C., that has been a Texas co-op tradition since 1965.

The Co-op chose Hollie after she submitted an application and essay on the subject of “How is an electric cooperative different from other electric utilities?” which showcased her leadership abilities. Hollie, a junior at Falls City High School, is very active in her school’s FFA program, and is a member of the Entomology Team, the basketball, track, and cross-country teams, and a three-year member of the school’s marching band. She is also an active member of her church.

Hollie’s 10-day adventure will begin in Austin, where she will tour the State Capitol, the Texas State Cemetery, and Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum before boarding a flight to Washington, D.C. Once there, she will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and appointments with elected officials, and tour the White House, U.S. House and Senate Chambers, the Supreme Court, and other national sites. She will also take a riverboat cruise on the Potomac River.

Hollie is the daughter of Steven and Brenda Hons.
