Dr. Trent Lovette will resume duties as superintendent of the La Vernia Independent School District, after district trustees voted 7-0 to reinstate him during a special meeting Dec. 4.

The trustees remained in closed session for more than three hours tonight, emerging at 9:56pm to vote on the sole item on the agenda: Lovette’s performance of his duties. The superintendent was suspended from duties Nov. 18, when the board called for an investigation during a special called meeting.

Board President Cynthia Buerkle, in the board's statement, said, "The matters brought to our attention on November 18 have been resolved through a methodical investigation with feedback and input from Dr. Lovette."

The board’s vote was greeted with applause from the audience in the boardroom at La Vernia High School.
