Brush fire threatens properties near Sutherland Springs

Firefighters from multiple area departments are battling a huge brush fire west of C.R. 307 near C.R. 317 in Wilson County. Support from San Antonio has recently been requested for the out-of-control blaze.

Deputies with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office are going door-to-door along C.R. 307 west of Sutherland Springs, notifying property owners of the fire, which is being fanned by winds of almost 15 mph. District 1 Fire & Rescue was notified around 11:30 a.m. Monday of the blaze, located near the Triple R Ranch subdivision.

Wilson County News has received reports of at least one vehicle being consumed by the fire, and homes being threatened.

Homeowners are advised to take precautions. Drivers are urged to avoid the area, to facilitate access by emergency services.
