Lamberth, Flores, Cantu take Floresville Council in 2025 election

Floresville voters have voted for change, electing Jake Lamberth, Frances M. Flores, and Felix Cantu to the Floresville City Council.

Place 3

In the May 3 election, Jake Lamberth took the majority in his race for Council Place 3 against Jacob “Jake” Thompson and write-in candidate Jessica Rodriguez-Green. Lamberth earned 786 votes to Thompson’s 626, and incumbent Rodriguez-Green’s 11 votes.

“I appreciate the support and everyone coming out to vote,” Thompson said after the election. “I wish the best of luck to the future council.”

Lamberth expressed that there was a “fair and mutual respect” between himself and Thompson’s candidacy, and that this time is “the most pivotal in Floresville’s history.”

“This incoming council is going to advocate for change,” Lamberth said. “I’m going to be a councilman that’s going to advocate for all citizens.”

Rodriguez-Green wished everyone “good fortitude to put the city business first” and “focus on the smart growth that’s coming … for the best interest of the people.”

Place 4

In the race for Council Place 4, Frances M. Flores prevailed, with 821 votes to incumbent Beatrice Ximenez- Marroquin’s 610.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Floresville citizens who took the time to vote and especially for me,” Ximenez-Marroquin said. “This is not goodbye. I am taking a break and will be back. Thank you for allowing me to serve as a council member the past two years.”

Flores expressed that she is “deeply honored and humbled” by those who supported her through this journey.

“Your trust and confidence fuel my commitment to making Floresville a place where transparency, progress, and collaboration lead the way,” Flores said. “This victory is not just mine. It belongs to our incredible community — to every neighbor who shared and voiced their concerns and hopes for the future of our city.”

Place 5

Felix Cantu won the race for Council Place 5, with 800 votes to incumbent Donald K. Scee’s 632.

“I want to thank the community for all of the support they gave me and the rest of our team,” Cantu said. “I hope we can come together as a unified council and try to get things done for the city of Floresville. It’s all about the community and nothing else.”

Wilson County News also reached out to Scee; but he did not respond by press time May 5.

Election canvassing

According to Floresville City Secretary Evelyn Garcia, the city will hold a special meeting to canvass votes at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8, after which Lamberth, Flores, and Cantu are scheduled to take the oath of office at 6 p.m. during the council’s regular meeting.
