Welcome to the Wilson County News “Candidates’ Forum.”

We invited candidates facing opposition for area city council, school board, and other seats on the May 3 ballots to participate in the longstanding tradition of our print “Candidates’ Forum,” a free service to area voters.

This is restricted to candidates in contested races only. This includes candidates running for:

•Floresville City Council — Candidates for places 3, 4, and 5

•Nixon City Council — three at-large seats

•Falls City ISD — two at-large seats

•La Vernia ISD — Candidates for Place 3

•Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District board — Candidates for an Atascosa County seat.

Questions

Invitations were extended to all these candidates, to respond to the following questions.

•What makes you the best-qualified person for this role?

•What are the three biggest challenges/ issues facing your city/school district/water district (whichever applies to you) in the next four years? How do you propose to meet these? How will your experience help you address them?

Here are the responses received by the April 16 deadline.

Early voting is April 22-29.
